In 1978, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 25th anniversary of her Coronation. To honor this event, the British Virgin Islands caused to be issued in Silver, versions of all of their circulating coins. ASW = 1.8713 oz.
Identical in design, but with modified legends and dating, this set was released by the Franklin Mint to an enthusiastic public. The Silver content of this set is 1.8713 ounces.
KM#16, the Silver cent depicts a hummingbird.
The Silver 5 cent, KM#17, depicts a pair of Zenaida Doves.
On the Silver 10 cent, KM#18, you will find a Ringed Kingfisher.
KM#19, the Silver 25 cent depicts a Mangrove Cuckoo.
The Brown Pelican graces the Silver 50 cent, KM#20.
The Silver dollar, KM#21, bears the Magnificent Frigate.
The famous medallic artist, Gilroy Roberts, was the designer of every coin in this set. He is well known for his design of Kennedy on the current U.S. half dollar. The mintage of these coins and this set is a low 6,196. Additionally, this set is a one-year type set. You will not find any of these coins available unless another set has been broken up.
