Up for sale is a WW2 German "Palm" camouflage smock. This smock was acquired from a fellow collector who was selling off his collection. Due to how this smock was purchased I cannot say with absolute certainty that it is original and I do not claim to be an expert in this field. However based on research done as well as looking at original photos from Michael Beaver's book on SS camouflage patterns, I feel that I can say this is an original piece in my opinion. As for the smock itself, it is the "Palm" camouflage pattern that came into use during the German invasion of the Soviet Union. It appears to be the early type smock with no foliage loops and having an elastisized neck. The elastic in the neck has very little tension left and the elastic that should be present in the sleeve cuff and waist are either completely stretched out or have been removed as was done sometimes in the field. The pattern shows heavy fading and wear with there being holes and tears along the smock, with some repairs present as well. I have tried to photograph this so potential buyers have a clear image of what they would be getting. Questions are welcomed and thank you for looking.
